Welcome to EV Journeys

If you are researching your first EV — or you just got one and the advice online feels contradictory — you are in the right place. EV Journeys is built as an education site first: honest explanations, free calculators, and guides that respect both your questions and your skepticism.

Why this exists

Electric cars are normal products with real tradeoffs. Social feeds amplify extremes: effortless road trips on one side, “never works in winter” on the other. Most daily life sits in the middle — commute charging, occasional trips, learning what your efficiency looks like. We focus on fundamentals you can verify: charge time math, overnight recovery, the habit of stopping around 80% on fast chargers, and what actually drives cost.

Start here

  • Charging calculator — home charging (Level 1 and Level 2) and highway fast-charge stops side by side, with realistic defaults (many cars charge at 8 A on a household outlet, not 12).
  • Guides on this blog — more topics over time; tell us what confuses you.

Already driving an EV?

Optional brand analyzers (starting with Polestar) turn journey-log exports into trip stats, charging insights, and maps — processed entirely in your browser. That is a separate layer for owners who want data from their own car, not a requirement to learn the basics here.

Privacy by design

Guides and calculators on this site need no account and no trip upload. If you use an analyzer, all vehicle data stays on your device.

What’s next

More guides, safety checklists for home charging, cost-per-mile examples, and support for additional brands. If yours is not listed yet, use the feedback page to say what you drive and what you wish someone had explained before you bought.
